We are in the process of updating the city map using a digital format, so that we can have automatic location capability on our 911 calls. When fully implemented, we will be able to determine the exact location of callers using cell phones to report emergencies. This is especially important when the person needing assistance is not familiar with the area. We are also using this opportunity to resolve any address conflicts that are discovered. The purpose of all of this work is to enable us to deliver help to those who need it faster and more efficiently.
