A Word From the Mayor
In a brief ceremony on August 26, 2009, Robert “Corky” Knight was officially appointed as Pleasant Grove’s new Director of Public Safety. I’m very pleased that we could fill this important post from within. I look forward to continuing to work with Chief Knight. He met all the requirements for the position. Joining Chief Knight was his wife, Diana Knight. She received the news at her workplace and rushed over from her job at a nearby business to join Chief Knight for the special occasion. On September 14, 2009, Timbercrest Neighborhood Association held their annual block party. The meeting was held at the community center. Chief Knight was also introduced at this time and the turn out for this annual event was great. Thank you for your involvement in our community.
As we look around us we see tough economic times. ALL levels of government are faced with tough decisions. Our nations unemployment rate is at an all time high. People are struggling to stay ahead. Our own Jefferson County is faced with tremendous decisions on how to stay afloat and put our county employees back to work. They are faced with the task of putting our sewer systems back on solid ground. This affects everyone! Federal, state, and local governments must all work together to solve all these problems. We must all pull together in these times of economic recovery. Let me thank the resident’s of Pleasant Grove for their support of our own businesses. You have been a great support as we weather these economic times together.
In closing let me say, pray for our President, our government, mayor and council. Please obey our street laws (stop signs, red lights) and watch out for each other (neighbors).
