City of Pleasant Grove

The City Council of the City of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, met in the Conference Room at the Pleasant Grove City Hall, 6:00p.m. for the pre-council meeting with the following present:

Mayor:                         Jerry W. Brasseale

Council Members:       William Bullion

                                    James G. Mosley

                                    Paula Johnson (absent)

                                    Terrie Hicks

                                    Philip Houston (absent)

Also present: Attorney Jon Terry, Fire Lieutenant Richard Mathews, Building Inspector Doug Hyche, City Clerk Karen Duncan

The council discussed general business to be taken care of at the council meeting.

The City Council of the City of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, met in regular session at 7:00p.m.in the Council Chambers with the following present:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Ms. Hicks made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 1st. pre-council and regular meeting.

Mr. Bullion seconded the motion.

Motion passed unanimously.

APPROVAL OF BILLS

Mr. Mosley made a motion to approve payment of the bills in the amount of $166,952.70.

Ms. Hicks seconded the motion.

Motion passed unanimously.

OFFICERS OF THE CITY REPORTS

Richard Mathews reported receiving notification on the acceptance of Assistance to Fire Grant and a bid will be going out next week for turnout gear.

Karen Duncan reminded everyone that next week will be Spring Clean-up week and the dumpsters will be at the parking lot across from the city hall for residents to dump their unwanted materials and cut limbs.

Doug Hyche reported work is progressing on the road to the new high school.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Mr. Brasseale made a motion to authorize the Mayor to sign the change of work order with Veteran’s Landscaping on the work they are doing on the road to the new high school. There is no change in cost on the change of work order.

Mr. Mosley seconded the motion.

Motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Bullion reported the Street Department has almost completed their removal of trash on the roadways and they have removed the slide at the park. Also they have worked on winterizing equipment at the parks.

Mr. Mosley asked for an update on the resident that had too many dogs at their home. Mr. Hyche reported the deadline for removal of the dogs is today and is waiting for the owner to call him back with an update.

Mr. Hyche also reported a letter has been sent to the contractor letting them know the work done on 9th. Street West and 13th. Street is not acceptable.

Mr. Brasseale introduced Mr. Thad Turnipseed. Mr. Turnipseed is a candidate running for Alabama State Senate District 5.
