October
23, 2007 Beautification Minutes
Pam Travis called the meeting to
order. Those present were Terrie Hicks, Rita Wright, Jean Jordan, Pam
Travis, Katherine Houston, Julieanne Haley, Rebecca Hamilton, Rhonda
Albino, and Sharon Williams. Julieanne led us in prayer and then the
Pledge to the American Flag was said.
In old business Pam announced the yard of the year winners as Jerry and Betty White. The reception held in honor of all yard of the month winners at City Council meeting was well attended and very well received. We decided to send reminders for board meetings via e-mail with minutes attached and mail to those who don’t have e-mail. Shirley had magnetic signs made for the Christmas parade that would be displayed on the Beautification Board car for the parade.
In new business the Beautification board was asked by the parade committee if they would judge yards from Hills to the Methodist church. This was to encourage these residents to be present for the duration of the parade as it travels past them. The neighbors will be asked to decorate their yards at least a week before the parade.
It was decided that we would judge Happy Holiday yards on December 11th and have our Christmas party on November 15th and we will have our regular meeting at that time. We will meet on November 13th to decorate City Hall for Christmas.
Julieanne Haley and her daughter Allison are redoing the city’s nativity scene. For our information Terrie let the Beautification Board know that City Council gave the board $3,000.00 this year instead of $3,500.00. Pam asks if we knew of anything else that the board needed to purchase and there were no suggestions. Pam will be checking with Wayne to see if the light poles are ready for the new snowflakes purchased to be plugged in.
We discussed about doing some kind of award for Mr. McClure for the enhancement of the area around his place. This might become an annual award if we can decide how it should work. We will discuss it more at a later meeting.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
